Each gene or protein is identifiable by its unique signature based on its expression pattern during development and adulthood. GESig™ represents Cytochem’s most complete and exhaustive data analysis package. All sites of expression at all stages of development are carefully scrutinized, photo documented, microanalysed and quantified. Specific cell types are identified, with or without additional cellular biomarkers, as the case may be. Relative expression levels are summarized in comprehensive tables listing over 200 anatomical structures and represented graphically for quick reference.
A GESig™ report:
Reveals all sites of expression in the entire organism |
Identifies the exact cell types wherein expression occurs |
Documents developmental regulation of expression |
Indicates relative expression levels |
Benchmarks expression levels against known standards |
Gives a comprehensive picture of the gene/protein expression profile, enabling an evidence-based gene function annotation. |
All findings and functional interpretations are described in a publication-type report, which includes material and methods, results and discussion along with tables, figures and legends. Photographic records are first shown at global anatomical scale (magnification of x2 to x5), then at medium-scale (x24 to x72) to show tissues and organs and finally at high-magnification (x200 to x1000) to reveal specific cell type(s). All pictures and figures are in a ready-to-publish format. Recommendations for future studies are also included (e.g. additional cell markers to identify/confirm cell types, comparative multi-gene assays or experimental gene regulation assays).
